Through the Dream It Do It program a variety of schools in the region participate in building soap box derby cars. Many of the soap box derby car projects are imbedded in the DIDI club programming. The soap box derby cars present an opportunity for students to learn about the manufacturing process while building a project with which they can compete. The soap box derby also helps students understand the forces of gravity and learn about aerodynamics. Participating in the soap box derby is an opportunity for participants to challenge themselves, engage in team work and learn about science, technology, engineering and math and their application of manufacturing. Through the project work students also learn about the importance of leadership, sportsmanship and perseverance.
