Women in Manufacturing
While women make up about 47% of the total workforce, they only make up about 30% of the 15.8 million people employed in manufacturing industries. In addition, only 1 in 4 manufacturing leaders are women. DIDI puts together programming to communicate the importance of women in the manufacturing and the opportunity to bring more women into the manufacturing workforce. As part of these efforts, DIDI coordinates a Celebrating Women in Manufacturing Day at both Cummins and Cutco for high school girls. These programs are an opportunity for teenage girls to learn about the pathways that brought area professional women into manufacturing.
